Kern County Sheriff's Office deputies said they arrested a man with 21 grams of methamphetamine.
At about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, deputies from Kern County Sheriff’s Gang Suppression Section contacted 23 year-old-Eric Frank Grijalva in the 900 block of Bernard Street.
When deputies attempted to speak with Grijalva, they say he ran from them in an attempt to escape.
After a short foot pursuit and brief struggle with the deputies, Grijalva was taken into custody, deputies said.
While Grijalva was running, he attempted to discard several items from his pockets including 21 grams of methamphetamine and a digital scale, deputies said.
Grijalva was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of sale, transportation of a controlled substance and resisting or delaying a peace officer during the performance of his duties.
Grijalva was booked into the Central Receiving Facility.
