BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Kern County Sheriff's Office is recommending assault charges be filed against a California Highway Patrol officer.
The report stems from an incident in September where a woman claimed she was sexually assaulted by the officer who drove her home after a DUI stop.
The woman claimed when she was pulled over, the responding CHP officers did not take her to jail.
She told the Sheriff's investigators that the officers let her drive home instead
.., following her in their patrol vehicle.
She said when she got home, she was sexually assaulted by at least one of them in her bedroom.
Both officers have since resigned. The Sheriff's Office said it's turned the case over to the district attorney.
