BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - An apparent fight over rent money has sent one man to the hospital and his brother to jail.

Sheriff's officials said it happened just before 9 p.m. at an apartment complex on Pacific Street in East Bakersfield.

Officials said that 31-year-old Jaime Rivera allegedly stabbed his brother Carlos Rivera over rent money.

Reports say when it was discovered that the rent money had been spent on alcohol, an argument began and that's when the stabbing occurred.

Carlos Rivera has non-life threatening injuries, but Jaime Rivera was arrested on charges of assault with a deadly weapon.
