OILDALE, Calif. - Local fire crew worked hard this morning to put out a small grassfire that broke out in a residential area.
On May 2, at about 9:00 a.m., crews with the Kern County Fire Department went to Oildale regarding a grass fire in an open lot.
Crews were able to knock the fire down in a few minutes. The wooden fence around the lot was destroyed.
Corey Wilford of the KCFD said Kern County received just a fraction of the water it usually receives, creating dry and dangerous conditions.
Fire officials asking homeowners to clear at least 100 feet around homes or homeowners could face a $250 fine.
