BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - People in Kern County are taking the time to remember the lives lost 12 years ago in the Sept. 11 attacks.
Members of South High School's Junior ROTC Rebel Battalion held a special ceremony before school this morning.
The cadets were pleased that many students came early to watch and honor those that died.
In addition to taps, the cadets performed songs and raised the flag to half staff.
South High wasn't the only school in Kern County paying tribute to those fallen.
Students with Bakersfield High School and its Air Force JROTC program honored the memory of those who died in 9/11.
The ceremony was held at the school's flag pole and Elm Grove on campus. The students laid a wreath and held a moment of silence, while the cadets provided a honorary detail to march in front of the flag throughout the day in a fashion to that practiced at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Washington, D.C.
