BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Two months ago 6th grader Osvaldo Sanchez competed in the Kern County Scripps spelling bee competition only to lose first place by one letter.
Recently he learned that the winner could not make it to the national competition in Washington D.C. next week and Sanchez was ruled the new spelling champ.
Sanchez said this time he is working harder to learn more words and is getting help from his language arts teacher and spelling coach David Sandles.
Sanchez will travel to Washington D.C. this weekend and compete on Tuesday.
23 ABC will follow the competition and let you know if he advances.
