BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - With Halloween swiftly approaching, Kern County Fire Department wants to make sure you don't get burned.

KCFD officials advise you and your children only wear flame-resistant clothing and the same goes for all decorations around your home.

Open flames like candles in jack-o-lanterns could ignite your haunted decorations in less than one minute.

Make sure your doorways are clear incase you need to quickly escape your home.

Also inspect your children's costumes to make sure there isn't anything that could harm them.
