BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Springtime is here and with it come new opportunities to go out and enjoy what the city of Bakersfield has to offer.
The Kern County Department of Airports announced Monday that Meadows Field airport will be hosting a number of bands and choirs during the last days of March and the early days of April.
The Springtime Concert Series was created to allow local Bakersfield schools to perform for a live audience in the terminal before passenger's board their planes.
The first performance will be given by the choir of Centennial High School and is scheduled for Thursday, March 27 at 12 noon.
North and Frontier High will both bring out their advanced level band classes to perform in early April. The North High School will play at 10 a.m. on April 9, followed by Frontier on the 10th, at 10 a.m.
Last year, Meadows Field hosted high school choirs for the holidays. According to a statement released by Richard Strickland, traveling passengers enjoyed the live music performances so much that the department decided to stretch the event to include the spring performances.
