Stinson's hosts job fair, looking to hire as the company expands

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Anyone looking for a job may be happy to hear this weekend may be their lucky chance.

Stinson's, a local office supply store that has been in Bakersfield since 1947, will be holding a job fair Friday and Saturday at the Marriott in the Convention Center. 

Dozens and dozens of applicants showed up for the Stinson's job fair Friday afternoon.

Friday's event will be held from 12 p.m . to 7 p.m., and Saturday's will be running from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The store is looking to hire a handful of qualified people as the company continues to grow. 

If you are planning to drop by, make sure to have your resume, a Calif. drivers license and a motor vehicle record.

Friday at one point there were so many job seekers, people were filling out applications in the lobby area.

The company has a variety of positions they are looking to fill. Positions include accounts receivable, accounts payable, business development, IT, shipping and receiving, warehouse and distribution and customer service.

The locally owned company, whose main competitors are Office Depot and OfficeMax, has continued to see success and growth over the years.

"We are very fortunate and blessed to be in a community that understands the value of what we provide. We are a company that's growing and we need people to join our team to help us with that growth,"said Ben Stinson.

Stinson's has a low turnover rate, and are looking for new employees because of company growth. Many of the company's current employees have been there for the long term.

That was a strong selling point for Karen Brazeau.

"I'm pleased to apply for employment with the long term company. A lot of their employees have been with them 14, 15 years even up to 40 years. The potential is exciting for me, because I am looking for long term employment," said Brazeau.
