BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - An online threat caused a panic at South High School prompting many students to stay home or leave early.
According to the Kern High School District Public Information Officer John Teves, a student started apparently bad-mouthing the late teacher and coach John Wren on Instagram.
Wren died in his sleep over the summer break and several of his former football team members were upset over the posts.
One of the former members threatened the student and challenged him to fight on campus.
Some students said that students then responded by saying he would bring a gun to the fight.
According to witnesses, Bakersfield police arrived on campus and removed two students involved. No one was injured.
