Survival bags made for homeless at Kern Co. Mission

Kern Co. Mission volunteers make survival bags

Volunteers from a local church were at the Kern County Mission Friday, helping out the less fortunate in Bakersfield.

Volunteers gave out free food and "survival bags" to residents of the Mission and Kern County neighbors as well.

The survival bags included water, a first aid kit, food, socks, and more.
They're meant to help those people who are without shelter in weather that's going to be getting colder in the coming months.

Directors of the mission say today is a special day within the community.

So far anonymous volunteers have made over 1,000 bags. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, contact the Kern Co. Mission.
