BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -

A Bakersfield man was taken to a local hospital after he was hit by a vehicle in east Bakersfield on Tuesday.

On Feb. 5, at about 5:00 p.m., officers of the Bakersfield Police Department went to the intersection of East Truxtun Avenue and Haley Street regarding a vehicle and pedestrian collision.

Officers said 43-year-old Alfred Ortega had been walking across the street when he was struck by a slow moving pickup truck which was northbound on Haley Street.

According to authorities, the driver of the pickup truck failed to stop after the hit.

Officials said Ortega suffered no visible injuries, but complained of pain. He was taken by ambulance to a local hospital for evaluation.

The pick-up truck is described as a 2000 to 2007 Chevrolet or GMC, extended cab, dark gray or black in color with a San Francisco 49ers or similar sticker on the back window.  It was last seen eastbound Sumner Street from Haley Street.

This investigation is on-going.

Anyone with information is urged to call the BPD at 327-7111.
