BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - An early morning garage fire in east Bakersfield threatened a nearby apartment.
Fire crews were called to the home near Haley and Niles streets just before four o'clock Tuesday morning to reports of a detached garage fully engulfed by flames.
Fire spokesperson Ross Kelly said the garage was filled with items being held for storage.
The fire grew quickly and slightly damaged the exterior of a nearby apartment.
The garage was a total loss.
Kelly said the cause of the fire is suspicious and under investigation.
