BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -
A SUV and two self storage units were destroyed after a fire broke out, according to fire officials.
At about 5:30 p.m., the Kern County Emergency Communications Center went to the intersection of Weedpatch Hwy and Kimber Ave., regarding a vehicle fire at a self storage facility nearby.
According to reports, the owners of the vehicle tried to stop the fire by use of their fire extinguisher before fire crews arrived, however, were hampered by the quickly spreading flames.
When firefighters arrived, they said they were faced with a SUV on fire that had spread into the neighboring storage facility.
Crews said they made a rapid, aggressive attack of the fire, holding it to the first two individual storage units.
Firefighters said they opened up the 6 adjacent units to check for extension, ensuring the fire was out and contained.
No injuries were reported.
