Deputies said they have arrested a man accused of molesting two children from Taft.
On January 10, deputies began investigating a home in the 600 block of B St. regarding a reported child molestation.
Deputies said 45-year-old Ernesto Roman Carderon had fled the home on foot, after the mother of an 8-year-old girl and a 7-year-old boy discovered Carderon in the act of molesting both children, according to sheriff's deputy Martin Downs.
Downs said that deputies learned Carderon had been a guest at the home for several months.
Follow-up interviews with the two victims revealed Carderon had repeatedly molested both of them, Downs said.
During the course of the extensive investigation, deputies said Carderon had fled to the Fresno area.
On Monday, deputies from the KCSO Special Operations Group found and arrested Carderon at a home in the 3000 block of East Nevada Street in Fresno, Calif.
The home where the incident occurred is just a block away from Parkview Elementary in Taft.
Johna Connick, who lives near by with six children, said although you can not prevent these situations from happening, knowing that it has happened makes her feel safer.
Carderon was taken back to Kern County and booked at C.R.F. on multiple counts of child molestation.
