TAFT, Calif. - Several Taft middle school students were recently under investigation by school officials after they made jokes regarding hit lists.
Taft Police officers made a visit to each of the Lincoln Junior High students' homes and talked to their parents, resulting in one student getting suspended.
The student who was suspended did not say his threat was a joke, until he got caught.
Officials said that every hit list reference was checked out and none were of serious concern.
The school district said they were going to send parents a letter warning them and their children that all threats will be taken seriously and could lead to suspension or expulsion.
The serious actions of the school district to any threat are in light of the recent Taft Union High School shooting that left one in critical condition and another facing 25 years to life.
