TEHACHAPI, Calif. -  

An elderly woman was found dead in her Tehachapi home on Tuesday night, according to police.

On Feb.12, at about 5:30 p.m., Tehachapi Substation deputies said they went to investigate the suspicious death of an elderly woman on Prospect Ave in Tehachapi. 

Police officials said they received the call after the daughter of the woman asked a family friend to check on her mother.

According to Tehachapi officials, the daughter of the woman lived out of town and had not spoken to her mother for about two days. 

Police said the family friend entered the residence and found the woman dead. 

Homicide detectives then went to the house and began an investigation. 

The detectives said they did not find any signs of foul-play, and an autopsy will be scheduled to attempt to determine the cause and manner of death.  The investigation is ongoing.
