The Bakersfield Fire Department recently discovered that the onsite firefighting equipment at the California Area Living Museum (CALM) had deteriorated and was in desperate need of replacement.
In an act of kindness, BFD gave hoses to CALM that were 100 percent functional.
The firefighting hoses were beyond their outdates for Fire Department use. The hoses were initially scheduled to be destroyed but will now serve a new purpose at CALM.
In the event of a threatening interface fire, there will now be fully functional hoses in place onsite.
