The Boys and Girls Clubs of Kern County after school program awarded $25K

Grant is aimed at their after school programs

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Boys and Girls Clubs of Kern County has been awarded a $25,000 grant to support after school tutoring for 60 disadvantaged, vulnerable, and underserved students.

The grant is from the S.L. Gimbel Foundation, a fund at The Community Foundation serving the counties of Riverside and San Bernardino.

The grant funding will provide three after school tutors for two of the clubs after school programs.

Activities include supporting the students regular academic programs and assisting the students in meeting state and local academic achievement standards through daily homework assistance.
