BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Over the past 12 years the Mission at Kern County has served more than 2,000 turkeys to those in need and volunteers came out in force to do it once again this year.
The Mission served about 500 meals with the help of more than 100 volunteers Thursday.
Mission staff said it was an all-time high for volunteer efforts.
Aside from meals, the Mission is provided shelter for the night.
"You know for us here at the Mission we want to help those folks that may not have a place to stay, may not have an environment to go to," said Carlos Baldodingos, Executive Director, "We want this to be home and who doesn't want to go home for Thanksgiving."
