WASCO, Calif. - The skies over Wasco will be bright in celebration of our nation's Independence Day.
The fireworks show was pulled from the city for the last four years because of a lack of funding, but this year councilman John Martin has spearheaded a campaign to bring back the fireworks show and said he's succeeded.
He said thanks to three major, private, donors, the city can put on the fireworks show this year on Wednesday July 3rd. He said the fireworks company was booked for the 4th of July.
Martin said starting at noon they will have a carnival, food and bounce houses for the kids.
The fireworks show will begin at dusk, Martin estimates the 45 minute show should begin at about 8:30 p.m. and the show is free.
Westside Park is located on the west side of Wasco High School on Beckes Street. Martin said residents should bring their lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy the show.
