BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Three local schools received a big honor by being recognized by the state for being exemplary and inspiring.
Liberty High School was one of the schools declared distinguished by the state, according to the Bakersfield Californian. It's Liberty's first year to receive the recognition.
Norris Middle School and Fruitvale Junior High also made the cut.
All three had to apply and provide two signature practices that puts them ahead of every other school in the state.
A total of 218 public middle schools and high schools made the list.
