Train derailment in Tehachapi

TEHACHAPI, Calif. - A train has derailed in Tehachapi.

At about 2:30 a.m., a BNSF Railway train rear ended a Union Pacific train southwest of Hwy. 58 just east of Broome Rd. in Walong.

There were no injuries to any of the crew members on either train. There are no hazardous materials involved.

One Union Pacific locomotive derailed in the incident. It derailed upright. This locomotive was located on the rear end of the train so we did not have any Union Pacific train crew members in the locomotive at the time of the incident. Four Union Pacific rail cars also derailed on their sides.

A BNSF official said that their train had eleven cars and three locomotives derail. All their carts had automobiles in it.

Officials said an investigation is ongoing.
