BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Today, a tribute was made for the more than 90 veterans buried in Bakersfield.
In conjunction with the 104th Annual Department of California/Nevada Convention, the daughter of the Union Veterans of the Civil War will hold a Memorial Service at Union Cemetery.
This event will pay tribute to the over 90 Union Civil War veterans buried. Eighty of these soldiers are interred in the section where the Hurlbut Post 127 of the Grand Army of the Republic monument and cannon are located.
A flag will be placed at each grave during this service.
DUVCW is a lineage society welcoming daughters, granddaughters, and all great-granddaughters who are descended from honorably discharged soldiers and sailors, as well as those who died or were killed, serving during the Civil War in the armed forces of the Union.
