Tropicana Motel closed by Environmental Health; Residents asked to relocate
Last Updated: 58 days ago
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Tropicana Motel on Union Avenue was shut down by County Health officials.
During their annual inspection last week officials identified several issues that needed to be addressed, including bed bugs, plumbing problems, cockroaches and electrical issues.
Health officials gave the motel time to fix the problems, but Wednesday determined that the problems were not fixed.
Hundreds of residents will be displaced while the motel is being shut down for repairs.
Several of the residents have animals and the City Animal Shelter is temporarily housing those pets.
Health officials have provided showers and laundry service for those who are relocating so bed bugs will not be transferred to their new temporary location.
