Truck driver died after losing control on Highway 99, hitting a tree, light pole

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - A semi accident on the northbound Highway 99 near Taft Highway left one man dead Sunday.
Just after 4 a.m., the truck driver drifted off the road and collided with a light pole and a tree, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The driver died at the scene. Coroners were called to help extract him from the smashed cab, officials said.
The crash is still under investigation. Officials said there are no details about why the driver may have lost control.
