BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Tumbleweeds are growing out of control and many homeowners living next to the alley by the vacant lot are not smiling.

Some are still green and others are turning brown, but Oildale residents all have one common desire: to clean up the area.

They are not only unsightly and a fire hazard, but at times they stack up against houses.

The problem is nothing new, however in past years, homeowners have done some clean up themselves and got a permit from the fire department to burn them, but now that is no longer an option.

In the past couple of years, the laws have changed and residents are not allowed to burn anything like that anymore.

Code enforcement said they have received the complaint and contacted the owner multiple times, but have not received a response.
