BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The delays started early Friday afternoon at about 4 o'clock. That's when a train and a tractor trailer collided in the area of Pond Rd. and Highway 43 just northwest of McFarland.

That accident prompted trains 704 and 714 to be delayed for several hours.

Passengers stuck on those trains said they were tired and hungry, but grateful that no one was hurt and finally made it back into Bakersfield.

One woman on train 714 said her train was supposed to arrive in Bakersfield from Modesto at 4:11 p.m. but it didn't arrive until 9:45 p.m.

Passengers and their awaiting loved ones said they had to make extensive arrangements to pick them up and make their final trips home.

The NTSB is now investigating the freight train collision.
