Two death penalty propositions will be facing off this coming election.

Prop 62 will repeal the death penalty and make the maximum sentence be life in prison with the possibility of parole.

Prop 66 would expedite the process of the death penalty. District Attorney Lisa Green says, "it will streamline the appeals process, it'll make sure that every convicted inmate who is sentenced to death will get an attorney immediately instead of waiting up to five years, which is how long the wait is now.

Prop 66 would also expand the pool of available lawyers, and victims of crimes will be able to receive justice.

Konrad Moore is a public defender who supports Prop 62, the proposition looking to repeal the death penalty. He says this is a moral arguement.

"There's a fundamental question about whether the government should be executing its citizens or people convicted of crimes."
