BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Rosedale Highway is now open, after a pedestrian was hit and killed early Saturday morning.
At about 6:26 a.m. in eastbound lanes near Clay Patrick Farr Way, near the Northwest Promenade a man in the roadway was struck by a Honda Accord.
The driver was a 69-year-old-man. There was also a woman in the car at the time.
The eastbound lanes of the highway were closed from Calloway Road to Coffee Road for several hours.
In a separate accident Saturday, a driver who slammed head-on into a light pole early this morning on Highway 178 has died.
It happened at 1:40 a.m. Saturday morning at the intersection of Highway 178 and Canteria Drive.
The investigation revealed that a man was driving a Chevrolet S10 pickup truck west on Highway 178 when his vehicle collided with a traffic signal at Canteria Drive, officials said.
The driver was transported to a local area hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
At approximately 8:20 a.m. the roadway was reopened.
No word yet on what caused the crash.
