Bakersfield police looking for suspect accused of shooting 2, killing 1 in southeast Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Bakersfield Police Department is asking for the community’s assistance in locating a man involved in a homicide investigation.

Police have a warrant out for the arrest of Brendan Sanders for murder and participation in a criminal street gang. 

Bakersfield Police officers responded to a report of gunshots fired in the 700 block of Geneva Avenue on November 24 at 12:52 a.m. 

Upon arrival, officers located a large crowd of people in the street.  Officers also located Jerry Gray, 35, who had gunshot wounds, laying in the street, officials said.

Gray was pronounced dead at the scene. The Sheriff's Office officials said an autopsy will be scheduled.

During the investigation, officers learned of a second gunshot victim who was transported by private means to a local area hospital with minor injuries. 

Police describe Sanders as a black man, 18 years old, about 5-feet-7-inches tall, 135 pounds, black hair (last known to be in braids) and brown eyes. 

The Secret Witness Program is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest in this case.
