Two suspects arrested for attempted murder and robbery after incident at Lamont market

UPDATE (Feb. 21, 2017, 10:55 a.m.): According to the Kern County Sheriff's Office, two suspects involved with the attempted armed robbery at the School Street Market in Lamont have been arrested. Both suspects are juveniles.

Around 8:42 p.m. on Monday, February 20, 2017, two Hispanic males entered the store armed with handguns. The employee was also armed and exchanged shots with the suspects. The suspects then fled the store in a dark-colored sedan. The store clerk was not injured.

A short time later, KCSO received a report of two shooting victims, both Hispanic males, who had arrived at Kern Medical with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Deputies determined that the description of the victims matched the two at Kern Medical with gunshot injuries. Deputies detained both suspects, and witnesses positively identified one of the suspects as being involved in the robbery.

Both suspects are currently being treated at Kern Medical and are in custody for attempted murder and robbery.

They will be booked into Juvenile Hall and the Central Receiving Facility upon their release from Kern Medical.

Two suspects attempted to rob the School Street Market in Lamont Monday night.

The market is on School Street.

One of the two suspects fired at the clerk, according to KCSO. The clerk returned fire and hit both suspects.

The suspects left the scene  and later arrived at Kern Medical for treatment. The extent of their injuries is unknown, but the clerk was not injured.
