Unknown man dies after car leaves SR-58 in Bakersfield

Victim had no ID, Arizona plates

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - A man died after his vehicle left the highway and landed on a street in Bakersfield early Saturday morning.

The victim was traveling eastbound on SR-58 at a high speed when his vehicle left the highway and landed on Mt. Vernon Avenue, at about 2 a.m.

The vehicle collided with the guardrail and concrete bridge railing over the street's under crossing.

After the impact, the vehicle overturned before coming to rest on Mt. Vernon Ave.

The restrained victim died at the scene.

The descendent did not have any identification but was operating a vehicle with Arizona plates.

No further information on the driver is known at this time.

At this time, it is unknown if alcohol was a factor in this collision. The California Highway Patrol is still investigating.
