BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Rosedale Highway at Fruitvale Avenue until Mohawk Street is back open after it was shut down due to an unknown substance in the roadway, officials said.

California Highway Patrol, Kern County Fire Department and Environmental Health Department were all on scene. Officials say a white, ten gallon container with a "hazardous" label on it spilled on both lanes of Rosedale Highway.

The substance was described as a type of resin that is very slippery when it dries and can also be flammable.
