BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Kern County Sheriff's Office has released investigation records confirming the drowning of a 2-year-old Oildale boy was an accident.
An autopsy was completed Wednesday proving that the boy had drowned to death and had not been deliberately planned or acted on by the boy's babysitter, according to the sheriff's office.
The child had been left with a babysitter, who then left him with her boyfriend and their 6-year-old son. Upon her return they found him floating face down in a small pool.
He was immediately taken to the Bakersfield Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
