Upper Kern River gets makeover on Earth day, volunteers remove graffiti and trash

In honor of Earth day, volunteers from the Kern River Conservancy and Keepers of the Kern came together at the upper Kern river to give Mother Nature a makeover.
Each year, hundreds of people flock to this popular summer destination along the river to spend the day fishing and picnicking but many visitors don't leave it the way it was.

" If you take care of yourself and take care of Mother Nature, she'll take care of you," one volunteer said.

The Kern River Rancher district from the Sequoia National Forest was also in attendance.

"A day like Earth day is a day for us to remember and appreciate nature and what it gives back to us," Cody Norris, Sequoia National Forest Public Affairs officer, said.
