BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Seven non-profit organizations including five in Bakersfield are teaming up with the Outlets at Tejon. The facility is hosting a special VIP night that allows shoppers exclusive access to stores before anyone else.
Things are finally getting back to normal at CASA of Kern County where volunteers have been manning the phones as shoppers prepare for that big day – the opening of the Outlets at Tejon.
“I had so many calls within a two to three day span, over a weekend that we ended up shutting down our website access so, that we didn’t over sell because they were going fast,” said Amy Raddatz, resource development manager for CASA of Kern County.
CASA, and six other non-profits will benefit from the outlets VIP Preview Party. Each group sold 500 tickets for $25 a piece, and now they all plan to get more than $12,000 towards programs and services
“For fundraising purposes, it was a dream come true. We used very little staff, I mean all we had to do was accept the phone calls and sign people up and disburse the tickets. We are so grateful for Tejon,” said Raddatz.
The organizations are not only sharing the money, but the community spotlight as more and more people become aware of the services being provided.
“It’s a blessing for all of us. This community takes care of itself and we’re all a family here in Kern County so, it’s a way not only to support your local non-profit and help the people, but it’s also a way to support Tehon and what they give to Kern County,” said Jennifer Henry, executive director for Links for Life.
Crews are working 24/7 putting the finishing touches on the outlets. Once open for business, the facility will offer shoppers more than 70 stores to spend their money.
“There is only one chance to be first and those who are here for that opening night, they do get to be VIP’s in a certain sense because they are the first people to shop but certainly the opportunity for people every other day of the year is going to be a great opportunity,” said Barry Zoeller of the Outlets at Tejon.
Tickets to the VIP event are no longer available for sale, but some media outlets are giving tickets away through special contests and promotions.
The Outlets at Tejon officially open August 8th.
