Volunteers needed for City of Taft clean up this weekend

Volunteers will receive thank you lunch

TAFT, Calif. - The city of Taft is looking for volunteers to help keep Kern clean.

On Saturday, April 27, from 8 a.m. to noon, Kern County Supervisor David Couch is joining efforts with the City of Taft Chamber of Commerce and Taft College to help clean up the Taft community through the Keep Kern Clean Program.  

This clean up is being organized to improve the image of the Taft community.

A call for volunteers is being made to help clean up trash and litter on various vacant lots and along Wood Street from HWY 119 to S. 10th Street.  Volunteers will meet at 8 a.m. at Veterans Park on Kern Street and be dispatched to their clean up area.

Trash bags, gloves, and bottled water will be provided for the volunteers. Volunteers should wear work clothes and closed-toed shoes.

A thank you lunch will be provided to volunteers at Veterans Park at noon. Lunch is being sponsored by Occidental, Vintage Production of California, Albertsons, Fastenal & Dreyer's.
