BAKERSFIELD -

Several families are helping keep the doors open to an organization providing free services to people in Kern County.

Volunteers with the Bakersfield Pregnancy Center registered more than 150 people from this year’s ‘Walk for Life.’

The center provides services for woman who are pregnant, who think they might be or who have young children.  All programs at the center are free and each year the walk helps keep those services free of charge.

“What we want the community to know is that we are here and that is a person is in a pregnancy situation that is difficult particularly an unplanned pregnancy there are resources to help you, you have many lots of options and we would be happy to give you some of those services that you need,” said Linda Davis, executive director of the Pregnancy Center.

Organizers say they raised more than $20,000 during the walk.
