A sinkhole has opened in the roadway along 1st Street at L Street.
City officials left the scene for a short time while workers secured the area at about 5 p.m. Tuesday.
One worker told 23ABC that a water main broke under the street causing the sinkhole.
No homes or cars affected.
Also a few blocks away at 1st and L streets on December 6, 2013 , a sinkhole opened that swallowed a car.
