Dru Hill at the Fox Theater

If you're a fan of Sisqo and Dru Hill the popular R&B's group from the 90s, you're in luck. The group is playing at the Fox Theater tonight. It's their "Ladies Night Out: Volume One", with special guests H-Town, Case and Love Truly. Dru Hill is best known for their No. 1 hits: 'Never Make a Promise,' and 'How Deep is Your Love.' And Sisqo's solo hit, 'The Thong Song.'

The Fox Theater is located at 2001 H Street in Bakersfield. Doors open at 7 p.m., and the show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets range from $41 to $91.

Stockdale Stampede 5k

Are you a runner? If so, there's still time to register for today's Stockdale Stampede 5K Run & Walk presented by the Stockdale Posse Parent Club.

The money raised will go to senior scholarships and to the students of Stockdale High School.

The race will be held at The Park at Riverwalk located at 11200 Stockdale Highway. The race begins at 8:30 a.m. Registration will cost $30, but goes to a great cause.

Fourth Annual Community Recycling Event

Looking to get rid of an old TV or computer? What about cans, books and cardboard? Take advantage of today's waste recycling event.

Kern Schools Federal Credit Union and Alianza Recycling are teaming up for the event.

They'll be accepting all TVs--no limit on size or quantity--computers,and monitors and all other electronic devices. They are also accepting car and rechargeable batteries and large appliances, but will not be accepting lights, florescent lights, or alkaline batteries.

They will also take bottles, cans, glass, newspapers, books, and cardboard. They also take bicycles and used shoes.

The event will be held at the credit union's location at 9500 Ming Avenue. The recycling program will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Golden State Farmer's Market

If you're looking for locally grown fruits and veggies, check out the Farmer's Market today. They have a variety of farm fresh items, jams, jellies, and baked goods. There's even a swap meet with arts and crafts, too.

The Farmer's Market is located at the Golden State Mall off Golden State and F Street. It runs from 8 a.m. to noon.

Low Cost Rabies & Licensing

Does your pet need their rabies shot or licensing? Today, you can take care of both. Or if your pet is already licensed, get your pet implanted with a microchip.

The City of Bakersfield Animal Control Division will be offering low cost rabies vaccinations and licensing for city residents. 

The clinic will be at Heritage Park, located at 2320 Mount Vernon Avenue from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Prices vary depending on your pet and whether or not it has been spay or neutered. 

Rock and Rods

And it's a day full of bands and hot rods at the First Annual Bakersfield Rock & Rod Show.

Several bands and DJs are scheduled to appear including Jonny Two Bags, the guitarist for social distortion and his current backing band 'Salvation Town', plus a Johnny Cash tribute band, 'Cash'd Out'. There will also be barbeque, hot rods, motorcycles, and a pin-up contest.

The event will be at Stramler Park located at 3805 Chester Avenue, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Tickets are $10. 

Boys & Girls Day for Kids

The Boys and Girls Club of Kern County is inviting parents and kids to come 'act like a kid,' as they take part in a nationwide celebration--A Day For Kids.

Families will be treated to a number of fun activities like bounce houses and carnival games.

Today's celebration will be held at the Armstrong Youth Center located at 801 Niles Street, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Glenwood Garden's Classic Car Show

Glenwood Gardens is hosting their second annual Classic Car Show today.

The residents will be judging the show. In addition to the cars, there will be food and music. 

The show will be held at Glenwood Gardens located at 350 Calloway Drive from 9 a.m. to noon. Admission is free, but any donations made will go to Alzheimer's Research.

Brimhall Farmer's Market

Looking for fresh and tasty seasonal fruits and vegetables? Check out the Brimhall Farmer's Market today.

Vendors there have a selection of items including vegetables, fruit, local honey, eggs, humus, salsa, artisan breads, and juices.

The Farmer's Market will be held in the Brimhall Square Parking Lot located at 9500 Brimhall Road. The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

4th Annual Bill Brannon Memorial Car Show

It's a car show and a worthy cause, as Buttonwillow Chamber of Commerce and Cindi Brannon present the 4th Annual Bill Brannon Memorial Car Show.

Cindi's husband, Bill, who was a huge car enthusiast, pasted away due to multiple system atrophy,

or MSA, a very rare neurological degenerative disease that has no cure.

Cindi has been using the car show to not only raise awareness on MSA, but money to help find the cure.

The car show will be held at the Buttonwillow Park located at Hwy 58 and Meadow Street from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. If you'd like to enter the show, it will cost you $30; it's free for spectators.

Gary Allen & Sheryl Crow Show

It's a little bit of country and a little bit of rock and roll, as Gary Allen and Sheryl Crow come to Bakersfield's Rabobank Arena tonight.

The Rabobank Arena is located at 1001 Truxtun Avenue, in Bakersfield. The show starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are still available at the box office and tickets range from $44.65 to $87.05.

'A Midsummer Night's Dream'

If a play sounds like fun for you, the empty space is performing William Shakespeare's 'A Midsummer Night's Dream.'

However, it's with a California twist. This time, the story takes place in the California Gold Rush.

The performance is at 4 p.m.; doors open around 3:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students and seniors. The Empty Space is located at 706 Oak Street.

Oakland Raider Fan Gatherings (Raiders vs. Jaguars)

If you're a part of The Raider's Nation of fans and looking for a place to watch today's games against the Jacksonville Jaguars, we've you a couple for you.

--Fans will be gathering at The Round Table Pizza at 2060 White Lane, just east of Hughes.
--The Bakersfield 'Black Hole' of Raider's fans is gathering at the Cataldo's Pizzeria at 6111 Niles, just west of Fairfax.

Kickoff for the game is at 1:25 p.m.

The event will be held in the parking lot of the Kaiser Permanente at 8800 Ming Avenue, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
