DOUG BENTZ MEMORIAL BIKE RIDE

Friends of Doug Bentz, the well-known owner of Bentz Ski Chalet who died Sunday will be riding the Kern River bike path Saturday morning in honor of Bentz. Cyclists will gather at Beach Park between 8:30 a.m. and 9 a.m. They will start riding at 9 a.m. Anyone is welcome to come, and organizers say no one will be left behind.

BUENA VISTA MUSEUM OF NATURAL HISTORY AND SCIENCE - PREHISTORIC BIRDS OF MIOCENE KERN COUNTY

Museum curator John Stegall will present an illustrated lecture on the birds found in Kern County during the Miocene epoch (23 to 5.3 million years ago). Attendees will also have an opportunity to view fossil remains of birds from the Museum's collection. Admission is free for museum members. General admission is $7 for adults, $5 for seniors and students, and $4 for children 6-17 years old. The museum will be open from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.

11TH ANNUAL VALENTINE'S DAY RUN/WALK

The run/walk will take place at 9 a.m. at the CSUB Icardo Center. The public is encouraged to sign up for the 5K or 10K. Online registration is currently closed but you can register in person at the event. The event will also have raffle prizes and activities for children.

CONDORS VS. ONTARIO REIGN -- GARY STEFFES YOUTH JERSEY GIVEAWAY

The Bakersfield Condors will take on the Ontario Reign at 7 p.m. at Rabobank Arena. The first 2,000 fans 12 and under will get a replica jersey of #22 Gary Steffes. This is a popular giveaway, so the Condors suggest you get there early so your little one can get a jersey.

CELEBRATE CHOCOLATE AT ST. JOHN'S LUTHERAN CHURCH

There will be vendors, taste samples, opportunity baskets, make a valentine booths, and a judge the fudge contest. The event is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at St John's Lutheran Church located at 4500 Buena Vista Road. Proceeds will benefit St. John's church choir.

KEEPERS OF THE KERN KEYESVILLE CLEAN UP

Keepers of the Kern will hold a clean up day at Keyesville South at 10 a.m. at the large dumpster on site. The location is just south of the Main Dam off Hwy. 155. Bring some water, your gloves and a smile and get ready for a fun day and a few hours of trash pick up.

ROCK COBBLER BIKE RACE

The race starts at Lengthwise Brewing Co. at the Marketplace at 9000 Ming Avenue at 8:30 a.m. Breakfast will be served from 6 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. The race is designed for a cross bike but a mountain bike will work. For more information click here .

GUITAR ICON PETE HUTTLINGER 

Pete Huttlinger will be playing at American Sound Recording Studios located at 2231 R Street in Bakersfield. The show starts at 5:30 and tickets are $30.
