BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) announces that Griffith Construction Company will resume lane closure operations along 3.8 miles of State Route (SR) 119 in Kern County beginning Wednesday, April 3rd, 2013 from 7:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. daily, as part of the Valley Dustin Acres Shoulder Widening Improvement Project.
This project consists of lane & shoulder widening, grinding, overlay and striping operations along the eastbound and westbound lanes of SR 119. This project is scheduled to be completed in May 2013.
In order to safely complete this project, one way reversing traffic control with flaggers and a pilot car will be utilized.
Motorists are advised lane closures will be necessary during daylight hours, however, shoulder closures may continue for 24-hour durations. Motorists may experience traffic delays of up to 15 minutes within the project area. Motorists are encouraged to use an alternate route if possible.
Closures may continue for longer periods of time each day if necessary, due to delays caused by weather or uncontrollable events that may occur during construction. These scheduled closures will occur, weather permitting.
