BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - A man crashed and rolled a car after trying to exit Northbound State Route 99 at over 130 MPH, only to steal a bystanders car and take off, witnesses told 23ABC.

Witnesses said a man was seen driving at a high-rate of speed on NB SR-99 and tried making his way to the White Lane exit.

When he tried exiting, witnesses told 23ABC he lost control and rolled his car.

Larry Puryear, an employee at Bill Wright Toyota, said he was driving a dealer issued white Toyota Sequoia to a meeting and stopped to check on the well being of the man.

Puryear told 23ABC that the man took off and and jumped into his vehicle.

Puryear said he tried stopping the man by grabbing the steering wheel, but the man sped off.

Bakersfield Police Department officers said they have arrested the man suspected of stealing the second vehicle.
