Woman found stabbed in abdomen; suspected attacker arrested

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - A man was arrested Sunday afternoon and accused of stabbing a woman in the abdomen.

At about 7 p.m., Kern County Sheriff's Department deputies were sent to the 1200 block of S. Union Av. regarding a victim of a stabbing. 

Deputies said they found a 25-year-old woman suffering from a single stab wound to her torso area. 

The woman was taken to a local hospital and her injuries were not life-threatening.

During the investigation, deputies said they were able to obtain suspect information that led to the arrest of 28-year-old Juan Luna.

Luna was found in the 500 block of E. Belle Terrace.

Officials said a knife was also found near Luna and seized. 

The events leading up to the stabbing are still being investigated. Luna will be booked into the Kern County Sheriff's Office Central Receiving Facility for Assault With A Deadly Weapon.  The investigation is ongoing.  SR12-30629.
