Woman reads magazine article, decides to cook good meals for Mission clients

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - A magazine article inspired a Bakersfield woman to give back to her community.

Kim Kitch, owner of Loop Electric, began hosting a monthly barbeque at her home.

Kitch asked guests to donate to the "Adopt a Meal" program, which provides meals to guests living at the Mission at Kern County.

She and her friends cooked meals people at the Mission would not ordinarily receive.

"They get something different than what's just donated," Kitch said. "To see a Mexican meal or an Italian meal, it's nice for them to feel like they're going out to eat and getting a nice meal."

The Mission serves more than 200,000 meals every year, thanks to community support.

An article in People Magazine inspired Kitch's good deeds.
