A woman says she was attacked by a man who was burglarizing her home.
At about 2:50 p.m. Friday, Kern County sheriff’s deputies were sent to a home in the 100 block of McKelvey Avenue in Oildale regarding a possible burglary in progress.
The homeowner said she was inside her home when she heard glass break. As she approached her front door, she saw the glass to her front door was broken out and Marcus Gray, 21, was running away, deputies said.
The alarm to the residence was activated.
As the homeowner went to another room, deputies said Gray re-entered the residence and told the homeowner to deactivate the alarm. When the homeowner refused, Gray assaulted her and fled the residence, according to deputies.
The homeowner sustained minor injuries.
Deputies said they found Gray about one block away at the corner of Merle Haggard Drive and North Chester Avenue.
Gray was taken into custody without incident.
As a result of the investigation, Gray was booked into the Central Receiving Facility on charges of robbery, burglary, battery, and intimidating a victim. His bail has been set at $205,000.
