BAKERSFIELD - PG&E says a power outage affected nearly a thousand people in Northwest Bakersfield Tuesday evening.

It started at 9:30 p.m. when two vehicles were involved in an accident that forced a woman's Gray Mitsubishi Lancer into a power pole on Rosedale Hwy. and Nord Avenue.

Several viewers called 23ABC to report either a large power surge at the time of the accident, or a complete outage.

The woman was pinned inside her vehicle which had caught fire. She was rescued and rushed to Kern Medical Center. Her condition is unknown.

Rosedale Hwy. was shut down at Wegis Lane for nearly an hour because there were power lines in the roadway.

PG&E did not have an estimated time as to when the power would be restored but they did have a crew on scene within minutes working on the issue.
