TEHACHAPI, Calif. - A Tehachapi woman is being treated for severe burns after a house fire early Sunday morning.
The fire started around 6:30 a.m. at a home in the 21-hundred block of Mission Street.
When firefighters arrived they heard someone screaming from inside. A firefighter from the Tehachapi Fire Station then used his hands to create a hole from the exterior wall to inside the part of the house where he heard the screams. The firefighter found a 40-year-old woman and was able to grab her legs and rescue her from the burning room.
The woman was taken to a local burn center where she is being treated for severe burns.
Investigators are now trying to figure out what caused the fire.
