BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -
A woman was taken to a hospital after walking into a traffic area without a crosswalk Friday night.
On Jan. 18, 2013 at about 8 p.m., officers of the Bakersfield Police Department went to Union Avenue regarding an injury collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.
Officers found that a pedestrian, 46-year-old Willie Patricia Hill, was struck by a 1997 Dodge pickup truck driven by 21-year-old Manuel Ramirez.
Hill suffered minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Although initially reported as a hit and run, Ramirez spoke with officers at the scene. He was evaluated, and found not to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
After investigating, officials said Hill had entered traffic outside a designated crosswalk without caution.
